Akron Juneteenth Stoner-Hawkins

Akron, OH- Juneteenth is back and better than ever at Stoner-Hawkins Park. It’s all taking place Saturday June 15th starting at 1pm sponsored by Akron Black Coalition Kindred Spirit Behavioral Health in conjunction with The City of Akron. With the help of countless others this year will be one to remember.

With opening ceremonies beginning @ 2pm featuring AROPI Juneteenth at Stoner-Hawkins has been a staple of the community since 1999 founded by Gerald R. Carter who passed away in 2020. The event has kept the spirit of the elder alive through the work of Fela Sutton. Who has taken over the duties of organizing the event and keeping the legacy of Juneteenth at Stoner-Hawkins alive and well. She has been doing a great job over the years with a lot of the weight falling on her shoulders to organize a safe community event. She seems to piece together a wonderful day to network and enjoy a positive day of culture and fun on a very small budget and very big heart for the inner city of Akron..

One of the highlights of the event is The Talent Showcase sponsored by Speaker Leakers Worldwide Hosted by Tre KuL which will begin around 4pm highlighting some of the cities brightest future stars of Akron. With hundreds of Vendors throughout the years the Black Business Market is thriving more than ever. Starting @ 1pm with many different businesses and food trucks in the area it’s always a good time to meet new local entrepreneurs and food providers. Some of this years vendors include Fun World, TNT travel accessories, The Honeypot Doula, Akron Avon, Akron Brands Acquisitions & Development, Daryn's Delights, Fantzycrafts, Author Tameka Ellington, Marime Beauty, Summit County Democratic Party, Healing Mothers, World Harvest Church who provides Free Water every year! Drive Thru Weddings & Notary will be on hand as well as Security Services provided by G-Force, Xi Chi Chapter Omegas, The fruit of Islam with help from the APD who will have a recruiting booth on site.
